The King of the Jungle

We all have heard that the king of kings, the lion, is the king of the jungle. The lion, an apex predator that dominates over all the animals in the kingdom. But wait, aren’t lions suppose to live in a savannah? Can they really thrive in a jungle?

The characteristics of a lion will make it less likely to survive in a jungle. It’s physical features and hunting behavior makes it unlikely to hunt in a rainforest successfully. A lion hunting with its pride will be less likely to succeed than the solitary tiger hunting in the bush.

So does that mean that a tiger is a better hunter than a lion? The answer is it depends. It depends on the ecosystem you put them in. Nature has designed both big cats to thrive in each of their respective ecosystems. Each animal is engineered, so to speak, to survive in an environment that suits them.

What can we take away from this idea? As an entrepreneur or a professional, we have to find an environment that will allow us to hunt successfully. Just like lions who dominate the savannah and the tiger who is the real king of the jungle, we must find places that will provide us with the opportunity to succeed. We need to find a niche where we can thrive.

The nice thing about this approach is that once we identify that niche, we can build on the skills and mindsets we need to succeed in that field. We don’t have to wait for millions of years of evolution to turn us into apex predators like lions and tigers. We need to spend time investing in bettering ourselves to make us thrive in the environment that we choose to operate in.
